Remember how Obama bowed to the Japanese Emperor, causing us all to lose our FREEDOM?

Sunday, November 15, 2009

Ever since the news of Obama bowing to the Emperor, Republicans have been keeping themselves busy with Japanese bowing protocol. With dozens of commenters adding their know-how of Japanese customs, this latest move by Obama proves yet again that he wants to destroy our FREEDOM. This bow is absolutely cringe worthy!

Here's Westsound Modern:

Each movement, the depth of the bow, placement of the hands, every aspect, has a specific intended meaning between the bower and the bowee as it were. The picture of Obama bowing before the Japanese Emperor making the rounds today is truly cringe worthy.

I'll let commenters of American Digest do the rest of the talking:

There you have it; surrender of the American benign hegemony - in black and yellow.

Very sad. Bowing improperly, which is what you see here, is considered highly insulting in Japan. You can see the strain in the Emperor's face. He is embarrassed for 0bama.

Can hardly wait for his meeting with Native American tribal elders when he raises his hand and proclaims "How".

This BHO bow, because of its degree of declination and the shamefully rounded back, is in Japanese eyes the bow of a crippled toilet attendant to his supreme master.

This is cute and all, but the President is half-Black, so... Anyone has anything to relate this greeting to slavery? Thanks, marvin Mattingly:

What a complete idiot! I guess Ol Hopy Change just can't get off the plantation. Still bowing down to the masa.

Nice!

I don't know; I thought it was more like "when in Rome..." I really don't know what all the fuss is about.

I don't know if it was "when in Rome" or simply a habit of a very tall man who's used to bowing when he meets the elderly, you know? But it certainly was nothing.

(and by the way, AskCherlock, I probably should add that I don't delete comments, especially from people who disagree with me, but I deleted the comment above yours because even though it sounded relevant, it was just spam. This same Indian guy leaves random comments all over the blog. And I just follow him around and delete them).

The fact of the matter is that the protocol has always been that the President bows to no one. This has nothing to do with Japanese custom. This has everything to do with the fact that the American President is sending a message to the world - America is weak and the leader of the country is weak. And..before you get in a snit - I was all over W when the pictures surfaced showing him holding hands with the Saudi king as well.

I may have even given you that one if I didn't think this bow was taken out of context. I saw it as nothing but a habit of a tall man who respects a shorter older man. To make this into an issue was, for me, a little pathetic.

It's like people on the right are unable to pick their fights. You have a President who ran on the promise of change and yet basically tells us this is great as a slogan but the only way to survive is to keep the same old economic advisers that pushed us into this mess, and people on the Right complain about body angles.
