In other words, poor people should be starved, just don't compare them to animals.
But where were the Republicans when rumors about Bauer being gay started surfacing? Here are some comments from Free Republic. The context: Bauer accused Governor Sanford of spreading the gay-rumors as part of a smear campaign.
It is hardly a mystery that Andre Bauer is gay. Give me a break. His own wife accused him of having a homosexual affair in their divorce papers. I mentioned that on this forum when the Sanford/Argentina news first broke. South Carolinians should be aware that if they drum Sanford out, they will be getting their first homosexual governor, at least until the next election.
Smear campaign about the flakey RINO Bauer. AKA telling the truth.
I’d can’t advise Sanford to resign if that means Governor Bauer.
Sanford committed adultery, he didn’t rape, rob or kill anybody. He may be jerk, but the alternative is unspeakably depressing.
I am not condoning [Sanford's] behavior. The man is a fool. But unless we can replace him with other than a homosexual RINO, he should stay.

"Republicans embrace Andre Bauer. But not in a gay way." Are you sure about that?
Oh wait, do you mean am I sure they embrace him or whether they gaymbrace him?
"Andre Bauer's statement comparing poor people to animals that should be starved has elevated his status." I would say that this statement alone has more relevance than even his sexual orientation or adultery.
Don't get me wrong, Askcherlock. My point didn't have anything to do with him being gay or straight. I meant to compare the respect he gets for making an outrageous statement like that (these people think any hateful speech is simply non-PC speech), with the hatred he got when the Gay rumors surfaced. And no matter how much these people love him now, it will not last long.
Avoiding the Gay thing, for a moment, I do wonder how they square the supposed commitment to Christ and his Teaching and a need to return society to the Standards of the Bible and condemn Poor people and say they should starve. In the Law of Moses, God commanded that a tenth be collected to help the poor, fatherless, and widow, while Jesus himself said the Poor were blessed and instructed others to give alms for them.
How can you be committed to Christ, and say the Poor should Starve?
