Ron Paul is the Winner of CPAC! Hooray! I Mean, Boo!

Ron Paul

So Ron Paul won the Straw Poll on CPAC, which immediately was followed by loud Town-Hall-ish boos from the audience. Because it's a known fact around Republican circles that the loudest person is the one with the valid opinion.

Take it away, Gateway Pundit readers:

After the gays shouted down a speaker, this was the worst thing possible.

I believe CPAC is done. Its toast. Lost all credibility.

ahhhhhhh….cr@p!

Ron Paul would be a seductive choice for president if you ignored common sense and history.

Ron Paul supporters remind me of Basij militants in Iran. Ignorant, mentally challenged, thuggish & obsessive with their cult leader.

And we all know what REALLY happened here. FRAUD:

Republicans had better make sure the nomination process is protected for the 2012 election.

Ron Paul for President? Hmmm, CPAC members are digging deep aren't they? Well, not that deep....
I mean, Ron Paul?

On one hand, it's understandable because there were a lot of young people there, and young Republicans love the fact that at least Paul has a clear platform (no matter how wrong). On the other hand, it's not like any other choice would have made me think of Republicans as logical.

I like how Ron Paul is wrong but still he's the one that makes the most sense in Washington.

Either CPAC was hijacked or those who were in attendance don't have a clue what conservatism is. Ron Paul is a nutjob and the furthest thing from conservative.

Beyond the point I was making, that people at CPAC thought "Boo" was a valid counterpoint, I do believe the Ron Paul vote is all about the young people voting. Young people make the connection between a purity of ideals and honesty, and the fact that Ron Paul is the only one in Washington with a coherent ideology makes young people think he's the only honest politician. When you stop to consider his ideas, though, there's enough for everyone to find incredibly outrageous stuff.

Let's face it-among the Rushpubliscums, Paul actually is the most attractive option. Where else will they go, really? Caribou Barbie? Guv Goodhair?

Pretty f'ing sad, that is.

Jolly Roger, what YOU consider an unelectable joke, THEY consider a glorious leader. These are the people who voted for W. twice, after all. And Bachmann was a nobody until she revived McCarthyism.

What, exactly, is wrong with Ron Paul?

No one seemed to mention that.

As to the above who said he wasnot a Real Conservative, I hpe you realie that Ron Paul is a different type of Conservative than you see in the General Republican PArty these days. He is a Paleoconservative and Libertarian, as opposed to being a Neo-Conservative.

The two are different, but, Ron PPaul's brand of COnservativm is older and represents the "Old Right".

In a way, Ron Paul is MORE Conservative than Sarah Palin or other more mainstream COnservatives like Mike Huckabee or Mitt ROmney.

Someone told me a while ago that Republicans lie and Democrats lie, but at least the Democrats lie about good things. I'm not saying I agree with the "Everyone lies" idea, but I understand where the cynicism is coming from. Ron Paul, on the other hand, no matter what you or I think about his policies, is at least honest. I can't say the same about Rand Paul, but Ron Paul has done some very courageous things.
